Hello, my name is Jane! I am a University of Nottingham Pharmacy graduate and I am currently doing my Pre-Registration within the hospital sector . Thank you for stopping by to reading my blog post.
About me
Amongst several interests, one of my biggest is Global Pharmacy. An interest solidified after:
Volunteering at the 2018 International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Congress in Glasgow
Having first-hand insights into how pharmacies operate in rural parts of the Philippines and Malawi. They were both very eye-opening experiences. A video showcasing my pharmacy experience in the Philippines can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKXezd2bVyE
I thoroughly appreciate and enjoy learning about the significant influence pharmacists can have through humanitarian work. Thus, I feel honoured to also share that I am currently the Communications Officer for the Commonwealth Pharmacists’ Association (CPA). This role allows me to exercise my social media skills as I advocate and learn about CPA’s vision. It deeply resonates with me. They strive to do all they can in equipping and empowering pharmacists across the Commonwealth in lower- and middle-income counties in a variety of powerful ways. Read more about CPA’s inspiring work on their Twitter and Instagram handles: @cw_pharmacists.
During my spare time I enjoy blogging on an Instagram blog I started during my second year of university: @pharmlifewithjane, formerly known as mypharmdiary. Starting this blog has been one of the best decisions I have made. A decision which admittedly required me to work up some courage, however once I took the plunge and went for it, I have not looked back since. After all, real growth happens at the end of our comfort zones, right?
Blogging enables me to exercise my content creation skills as I take joy in sharing what I am learning and doing my best to serve future and current pharmacy students through the form of video calls, messages or voice recordings in response to questions I receive from them. It also gives me the privilege to network, be inspired and engage with healthcare students across the globe.
Below is a picture I collated featuring myself and some members of ‘Global Pharm Pals’ Facebook group. An initiative I set up with hopes for it to be a platform for future and current pharmacy students across the globe to unite as we share our passions, life stories and what we are learning. A place we feel uplifted, supported, and encouraged through our life journeys. It is exciting how we now have 100 plus members from over 12 different countries. If you are interested in joining, we would love to welcome you here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/275298350513
My biggest takeaway message after having created pharmlifewithjane is this;
If there is something within you that you are burning to do- please go for it. I totally understand how easy it can be sometimes to succumb to voices in our heads telling us otherwise. Nonetheless, one of the lessons I have learnt so far is that we shouldn’t talk ourselves out of going for, or starting something just because we don’t know how it’ll unfold, what the end goal will be like or how ready we feel. Lets strive to recognise and let go of debilitating voices and let life surprise us. We all have abounding purpose in whatever way that looks like for us.

As the saying goes, your network is your net worth!
Particularly in our day and age, if used appropriately I believe social media really is a valuable tool. If any of what I have said resonates with you, you have any questions or you would simply like to network, feel free to befriend me on my socials and say hi! I would love to get to know you and help where I can! 😊
